Well, we are two weeks away from the 18th Annual FMBB World Championships. The event is being held at the Centro Equestre Federale “Pratoni Del Vivaro” which is located about 45 minutes south of Rome, Italy between Rocca di Papa and Rocca Priora, on over 358 gorgeous rolling mountain lined acres.

The equestrian center was built for the events of the 1960 Olympic Games and has served as a world host over the past fifty years for the equestrian world. This year’s FMBB host club is Club Amatori Pastore Belga. Competitors at this year’s event are extremely fortunate to be able to partake in a part of history by using the official Olympic grounds for this year’s FMBB event.

Four IPO handlers (Benny Barmapov with Master de Alphaville Bohemia, Sean Rivera with Daneskjold Iron, David Greene with Luigi Du Dantero, and Harry Wagner with Augustus Caesar Haus Wagner) and two agility handlers (Kimberly Buchanan with Sprite's Entertaining Choice "Emmy" and Shari Lipski with Amara von der Eichenquelle) will be representing the AWMA and the United States of America.

This year there are 26 countries competing in IPO with 88 handler/dog teams, 19 countries competing in agility with 104 handler/dog teams, and 11 countries competing in Mondio with 57 handler/dog teams.

Each discipline will have practice time on their respective fields before the event begins. The opening ceremony is on Wednesday, May 2nd, and the Championship events will be held on Thursday through Sunday, May 3rd through the 6th, a banquet for all competitors, guests, and spectators will be Saturday evening, with the final competition rounds, closing ceremonies, and award presentations for each discipline’s World Champion on Sunday.

I am hoping for Wi-Fi at the event to report as each day unfolds, if not, texting to Anne Camper will have to do! Everyone can also visit the 2012 World Championship website for event results at http://www.FMBB2012.com.

I wish everyone safe travels and great success at this year’s event.

Ciao!
